Chapter 1

Philippians

Paul thanks the Philippians for their partnership in the gospel, confident that God will complete His work in them; even his imprisonment advances the gospel as Christ is preached. He longs that they abound in love and stands determined that, whether by life or death, Christ will be magnified. He urges the church to live worthy of the gospel, standing firm in unity despite opposition.

Chapter 2

Philippians

The believers must imitate Christ’s humility: though equal with God, He emptied Himself, took servant form, and was exalted above every name. Paul calls them to work out salvation with God’s energizing power, shine as lights, and hold fast the word. He rejoices even if poured out like a drink offering and commends Timothy (genuine in care) and Epaphroditus (faithful messenger) as examples.

Chapter 3

Philippians

Paul warns against ‘dogs’ and ‘mutilators’ who trust in flesh; though he could boast (Hebrew, Pharisee, blameless), he counts all loss for the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. Righteousness comes by faith, knowing His resurrection and sharing His sufferings toward the heavenly prize. The mature should follow this pattern, unlike enemies of the cross whose minds are set on earthly things.

Chapter 4

Philippians

He entreats Euodia and Syntyche to agree, calling true companions to help them. Believers must rejoice, be gentle, pray instead of worry, and dwell on what is true and noble—the peace of God will guard them. Paul thanks them for renewing support; he has learned contentment in all circumstances through Christ’s strength. Their gifts are a fragrant offering, and God will supply their needs; final greetings and grace conclude the letter.
