Accessibility

Prime Bible is committed to ensuring that our biblical study tools are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

Our Commitment

We believe that God's Word should be accessible to all people, regardless of ability. As a nonprofit ministry dedicated to providing free Bible study tools, we are committed to making our platform usable for everyone.

Prime Bible strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. While we work continuously to improve accessibility, we acknowledge that some areas may not yet fully meet these standards, and we welcome your feedback.

Accessibility Features

Keyboard Navigation

Full keyboard navigation support throughout the application. All interactive elements are reachable via Tab, and actions can be triggered with Enter or Space.

Screen Reader Support

Semantic HTML and ARIA labels are used to ensure screen readers can properly interpret and convey page content, navigation, and interactive elements.

Responsive Design

Prime Bible adapts to all screen sizes and devices—from mobile phones to large desktop monitors—ensuring comfortable reading and study at any viewport.

Text Scaling

Content is designed to remain readable and functional when browser text size is increased up to 200%, supporting users who require larger text.

Standards & Practices

We follow established web accessibility best practices, including:

Meaningful alternative text for images
Sufficient color contrast ratios for text and interactive elements
Focus indicators on all interactive elements
Consistent and predictable navigation patterns
Dark mode support to reduce eye strain
Font choices optimized for readability (including serif fonts for extended Bible reading)
No content that flashes more than three times per second
Clear heading hierarchy for page structure
Descriptive link text (avoiding "click here" patterns)
Form inputs with associated labels

Biblical Language Accessibility

Prime Bible displays text in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek scripts. We recognize that these present unique accessibility challenges:

  • Right-to-left (RTL) text: Hebrew and Aramaic content is properly marked with directional attributes to ensure correct rendering and screen reader behavior.
  • Transliterations: Where available, we provide Latin-script transliterations alongside original language text to aid pronunciation and screen reader comprehension.
  • Font optimization: We use carefully selected fonts with font-display: swap to ensure text remains visible during font loading.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, we are aware of some current limitations:

  • Some interactive data visualizations (such as the etymology map and cross-reference graph) may have limited screen reader support. We are working to add text-based alternatives.
  • Third-party embedded content (such as Google Fonts) may not fully conform to our accessibility standards.
  • Verse card images generated by the Verse Card Creator are visual by nature; we recommend sharing the verse text alongside any generated images.

We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across the entire platform.
