Trials test faith, producing endurance; ask God for wisdom in faith; the lowly boast in exaltation, the rich in humility; God tempts no one—desire births sin; be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; receive the implanted word; be doers, not hearers only; true religion: bridle tongue, care for orphans & widows, keep unstained from the world.

Show no favoritism to the rich over the poor; breaking one part of the law makes one guilty of all; mercy triumphs over judgment; faith without works is dead—Abraham and Rahab illustrate living faith proven by obedient actions.

Teachers face stricter judgment; the tongue is a small member but steers the body, can set a forest ablaze; no one can tame it; blessing and cursing must not come from the same mouth; true wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy; jealousy and selfish ambition breed disorder.

Quarrels arise from covetous passions; friendship with the world is enmity with God; submit to God, resist the devil, draw near, humble yourselves; do not slander or judge a brother; arrogant planning ignores God’s will—‘If the Lord wills’; boasting in self-confidence is evil.

The rich who oppress will weep at coming misery; be patient like farmers and prophets until the Lord’s return; establish hearts, don’t grumble; let your ‘yes’ be yes; call elders to pray and anoint the sick, confess sins; fervent prayer of the righteous is powerful—Elijah’s example; turn back wanderers from truth to save their souls.
