1 Peter

Praises God for new birth into a living hope through Christ’s resurrection, reminds scattered believers of their imperishable inheritance, calls them to holiness as obedient children, and marvels that prophets and angels longed to see this salvation.

Christians are living stones being built into a spiritual house and a royal priesthood; they must abstain from fleshly passions, submit to human authorities and masters, and follow Christ’s example of patient suffering when wronged.

Peter instructs wives and husbands on godly conduct, urges unity and readiness to defend their hope with gentleness, and explains that Christ suffered once for sins, was made alive in the spirit, proclaimed victory to imprisoned spirits, and now saves through the resurrection symbolized in baptism.

Believers are to live for God’s will, not human desires, knowing that fiery trials test them; they should exercise sober prayer, fervent love, hospitable service, faithful stewardship of gifts, and rejoice when sharing Christ’s sufferings because judgment begins with God’s household.

Elders must shepherd God’s flock willingly and humbly, all believers must clothe themselves with humility and cast anxieties on God, resist the devil standing firm in faith, and trust that the God of all grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish them; concludes with greetings and peace.
